OUR KIND

"OUR KIND" by Bame Hadasha

Care to take our shadows for a walk?!
That will be paving a road to hell with our emotions
Instead, let’s take them on a monorail...
It's gonna be a lumpy ride but we'll take it at a snail pace
Just this one time let’s sway away our pride and enlighten people of this phase
Um asking a lot from u, I know

Um setting a time-bomb for all of us but this time for peace-sake lets not let it blow
Each of us is a piece of cake baked with anger, disappointment, rage
Sad thing is all of these ingredients play an important part in our beauty
We never got an exhibition to showcase our art
To tell the world how our 'condition' took a piece from our tart
A condition...that's how they view OUR KIND..
The depressed kind.. lost kind.. with an unsettled heart and a confused mind
Harmful to self but never to sight... that is our kind

We are our own plug
Often get the "you are weird sometimes" and laugh it 'off'
While in actual fact our red light get turned 'on'
Throw down a couple of depressants from time to time
And take on illicit drugs, two or three dimes
Breakdowns, insufficiency, DID disorders; a few of our committed crimes
We are unapologetic for our condition though
It was never a genetic conviction, we blame it all on surrealism
Sympathy is not what we are seeking for but respect for our kind

Remove the veil making YOU blind to our 'condition'
Because YOU will never understand the pain we are going through
Not even an IV in the arm nor pills can make up 'four' it
I pray you never experience it, I swear it kills
But we cherish the pain like its golden because we are survivors...
The rare kind... black coated heart type..

This is OUR KIND
