Since the 2008 global recession, Botswana has experienced a staggering upsurge in the unemployment rate. From a consistent 17.5 to a solid 20%. Inflation was no exception, at least we seen it drop to an all time minimum of 3.3% in April 2017. But for a country the size of France and a population of 3 million people what could possibly be the reason for such a high unemployment rate? We have all witnessed the tragic collapse of the diamond and beef international markets right in front of  our very eyes. This pushed the government's efforts to traject towards diversifying in attempts to save the economy. We have seen youth grants, loans and project financing by various arms of government in the last few years to fulfill citizen empowerment. 

Many companies are either restructuring, downsizing and or shutting down completely, tremendously cutting down chances of ever finding reliable employment. Internship is just another endless cycle of modern day slavery exploiting most graduates for cheap labour in the name of experience. And don't even get me started on the GV program. With all this, it has become abundantly clear that it is upon the youth to step into the entrepreneurial world in order to save not only themselves but their fellow mates. This unemployment predicament leaves the youth stranded with only one card to play, that is entrepreneurship. With more of the young people breaking into the world of business they need support structures that will guide them from point A to point B. Regime Change? Are We Ready? Is it Possible?

Change is the only constant in nature and the more things change the more they stay the same. I bet you have heard that a thousand times. It is without a doubt in my mind that Botswana is tip toeing  on the shorelines of a revolution.  For the 1st time in our political history many are seeing within the veins of possibility, a "regime change" or at least a dire need to flip the coin. Change manoeuvres at a snail’s pace, there is no change without resistance and the past 50 years of Botswana Democratic Party's reign are a clear testimony to that fact.
